Dr. Jolita Zabarskaitė

Jolita Zabarskaitė’s research focuses on the history and politics of South and Southeast Asia. After conducting several longer field-research periods in India, Indonesia, and Singapore while studying in Germany and Indonesia, she received her doctorate, magna cum laude, from the University of Heidelberg. Her dissertation, which was published under the title “Greater India” and the Indian Expansionist Imagination, c. 1885-1965: the Rise and Decline of the Idea of a Lost Hindu Empire (Berlin and Boston: De Gruyter Oldenburg, 2022), is the first systematic study of the genealogy, discursive structures, an implication of the idea of “Greater India”.
