Gretchen Gonzaga's talk explores how the Sama Badjao, a sea-oriented Indigenous community in the Philippines, experiences and responds to climate change, extreme weather, and structural marginalization. Drawing on post-disaster fieldwork after Super Typhoon Rai in 2021-2022, it highlights how their recovery process and adaptive practices reveal deeper questions of justice and resilience amid intensifying climate crises.
