The project
This research cluster focuses on the relational dynamics of mobility and immobility in Mongolian societies from the late 16th century until today. Theoretically, it is situated in the new transdisciplinary field of mobilities research. Under the umbrella theme of (im)mobility the cluster encompasses research on diverse, but interlinked, issues like spatial movement, social mobility or cultural circulation, combining different methodological and theoretical approaches.
Starting from the assumption that place and placelessness, «movement and spatial fixity» (M. Sheller 2011: 3, Sociopedia.isa, DOI :10.1177/205684601163) are co-constituted, the cluster is informed by a broad concept of mobility that includes both the embodied movement of people and commodities and their cultural representations and meanings. In this way, it explores the interplay of material objects, spatial fixities, and temporalities like fastness and slowness that constitute and shape (im)mobilities. The individual projects of the research cluster focus on different themes, yet all address related questions concerning (im)mobilities of people, objects and representations in their complex relational dynamics.

Судалгааны төсөл нь 16-р зууны төгсгөл үеэс өнөөдрийг хүртэл монголын нийгэмд болж өнгөрсөн, одоо болж буй хөдөлгөөнт ба тогтонги үйл явцын учир шалтгаан ба хөгжлийг судлахад голчлон төвлөрөх юм. Онолын хувьд энэ үзэгдэл хөдөлгөөнт байдлыг судлах трансдисциплинари салбар хоорондын / дундын хандлагын хүрээнд явагдах юм. Хөдөлгөөнт үйл явц (тогтонги байдал) гэсэн сэдвийн хүрээнд дэх судалгааны төслүүд нь өөр хоорондоо ялгаатай ч, орон зайн шилжилт, нийгмийн хөдөлгөөн болон соёл өөрчлөгдөн солигдох үзэгдлийг судалгааны аргазүй, онолын хандлагын хувьд өөр чиглэлээр судалж байгаагаараа хоорондоо холбогдож байна.
Орон зай болон бодит бус орон зайн талаарх төсөөллөөс авхуулаад “хөдөлгөөн ба орон зайн тогтонги байдал” (M. Sheller 2011: 3, Sociopedia.isa, DOI :10.1177/205684601163) гэсэн ойлголтууд нийлээд хүмүүс ба эд зүйлсийн бодит өөрчлөлт хөдөлгөөн, түүн дэх соёлын утга агуулга ба илэрхийллийн асуудлыг энэхүү хамтарсан төслийн өргөн цар хүрээнд багтааж байна. Ийм замаар материаллаг эд зүйлс, орон зайн тогтонги шинж, цаг хугацааны хурдан удаан, хөдөлгөөнт болон тогтонги байдлын хэлбэрийг нээн илрүүлэх юм. Судалгааны кластер дахь нэгж төсөл бүр нь хүмүүс, эд зүйлс, тэдгээрийн хоорондох цогц харилцаа холбооны хандлагыг илрүүлэх зорилготой өөр өөр дэд сэдвүүдийн хүрээнд явагдана.
