Ellangadu Village

Neminātha Temple

The Neminātha Temple in Ellangadu combines two closed halls and a very large semi-open maṇḍapa, proceeded by a wide porch. The long side walls of the semi-open maṇḍapa are adorned with beautiful cosmological paintings. Although the temple complex at Ellangadu is called the Neminātha Temple, the main icon (mūla-nāyaka) today is an icon of Ādinātha. Such changes in association are not uncommon in connection with Jaina temples.
