Kallil

Rock-cut cave

In the countryside near Parumpavur at Kallil is an ancient Jaina rock-cut cave. The cave dates from about the eighth to tenth centuries CE and was dedicated to Mahāvīra. Today the cave has been converted into a Bhāgavati Temple of the local Hindus. A few Jaina statues still remain in situ.
