The Southeast Asian Studies Library is one of the seven departmental libraries. It contains around 9000 books and is constantly growing. In addition to books on politics, sociology, development, environment and other topics, we also offer journals and working papers for viewing in our archive.

Stocks

The library of Southeast Asian Studies at the University of Bonn contains around 9,000 books and has a constantly growing collection. Several new volumes are acquired every week. The main topics here, as in the document centre, are politics, economics, sociology, development, ethnology, statistics, agriculture, science, linguistics, environment/ecology, history, migration, urbanization and globalization. All volumes in the library's collection are listed in the ULB catalog.


1. As a rule, books from the library are only lent to students and lecturers of the University of Bonn.
2. The loan period is generally 2 (two) weeks, for students writing their theses 4 (four) weeks.
3. After the loan period has expired, it can be renewed a second time (also by telephone at: +49.228.73-9741 or by e-mail: soa-bibliothek@uni-bonn.de) for the same period of time (a further two or four weeks), unless the books to be borrowed have been reserved for further borrowing.
4. Materials from reference collections can generally be loaned to lecturers for one week, unless lecturers specify other arrangements for their reference collections.
5. In principle, no more than 5 (five) volumes can be lent to one person at a time; exceptions may apply for students writing a thesis.
6. There are a few volumes that cannot be lent out.
7. The borrower is liable for volumes that are passed on to third parties.
8. If the loan period is exceeded, the library reserves the right to take action.
9. For special/longer loan periods and regulations, permission must be obtained from the responsible lecturer.

An identity card and student ID are required for borrowing.

1. Journals and documents from the archive are generally only issued to students and lecturers of the University of Bonn for copying.
2. Students writing a thesis may borrow documents and journals; loan periods and regulations apply as described above in the library regulations.
3. Access to and research in the archive is generally to be carried out together with one of the student assistants.
