Gommaṭagiri
Jaina monuments on Gommaṭagiri Hill
On the summit of the enormous rock of Gommaṭagiri, there are several open pavilions, which do not shelter representations but simply flank the monumental standing, circa sixteen-feet-high statue of Bāhubali. At the foot of Gommaṭagiri, twenty-four open pillared pavilions, containing small Jina icons, have been constructured to recreate the special layout of sacred Mount Sameṭa-śikhara in Bihar. This site also has a small octagonal temple housing a samavasaraṇa, another temple structure related to the life of the Jinas and a Jala Mandir housing an image of Mahāvīra.
