Internships

Broaden your horizons and gain professional competence through an internship in Germany or abroad. Suitable for this are, as a rule, activities within art and cultural institutions or related fields.

In the BA degree Programme Asian Studies with the specialization in Art History in Asia and the Orient, the following module is ideal for this:

“Studies and Practice: Asian and Oriental Art” (AIK 2) This module aims to provide initial familiarization with the world of work. Practical, art historical skills are to be gained during an internship (see BA Module Overview):
In addition to this, you can complete the module “Intercultural Competence Internship” in Germany or abroad within the context of the BA in Asian Studies. Further details about this module are to be clarified with the IOA’s Internship Advisor. The guidelines on the recognition of this internship are to be found on the appropriate information sheet.

In the MA Degree Programme in Asian Studies with the specialization in Art History in Asia and the Orient, the following module is suitable for this:

“Practical Module: Art in Asia and the Orient” (AIK 4) (see MA Module Overview): The two intra-departmental internships can be completed within the year leading up to the deadline for submission of the internship report (usually by 31 March in the winter semester and 30 September in the summer semester).

Internships are generally unpaid, but ERASMUS and the DAAD offer appropriate funding options.
